Parole in Place Eligibility Requirements
On June 18, 2024, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) took a major step towards keeping families together with the “Keeping Families Together” process. This groundbreaking initiative allows eligible noncitizen spouses and stepchildren of U.S. citizens to apply for parole in place, allowing them to stay in the U.S. while working towards lawful permanent resident status.
Eligibility for Noncitizen Spouses:
- Must be present in the U.S. without admission or parole.
- Must have been continuously physically present in the U.S. since at least June 17, 2014.
- Must have a legally valid marriage to a U.S. citizen on or before June 17, 2024.
- Must have no disqualifying criminal history and pass background checks.
